Canvas categories are the ways we can configure PLOT for different planning scenarios. Anytime you need to take a top-down strategic approach to goals and creation of a roadmap to achieve them then PLOT can provide valuable support.
In Release 2.2 we have added the following new Canvas Categories:
This Canvas category supports the scenario of high-level analysis and design of new technology solutions; typically off-the-shelf software packages delivered as SaaS applications.
Historically solution blueprinting has resulted in length documents that can become disconnected from the underlying Business Objectives and rational for the solution.
With this canvas category we leverage the strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement features of PLOT and align these business needs to the technology components that form the proposed solution. We use the terms PURPOSE and AMBITION for the solution, breaking this down into FOCUS AREAS and TOPICS, aligning the Solution CAPABILTILIES to these TOPICS.
We breakdown the CAPABILITIES into KEY REQUIREMENTS that are shaped into EPICS and FEATURES scheduled into INCREMENTS on the ROADMAP.
This Canvas category supports the scenario of developing an Integrated Action Plan for cyber, risks and controls for a business service.
With this canvas category we leverage the strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement features of PLOT and align these business needs to the risk management and controls components. We use the terms PURPOSE and SERVICE VISION, defining the IRM OBJECTIVES; then breaking these down into SUB-OBJECTIVES, aligning to the IRM FOCUS AREAS.
